We’re Cabin Connect — a New Zealand family-run business designing flatpack and kitset DIY cabins that are practical, beautiful, and achievable for everyday Kiwis. Our goal isn’t just to sell cabins — it’s to help people create functional spaces without the stress, cost, or long construction timelines of traditional builds.

With the rising demand for additional space, backyard cabins are quickly becoming NZ’s favourite alternative to building extensions. Our designs offer tiny home flexibility, sleepout comfort, granny flat potential, and even Airbnb or rental opportunities — all delivered in a compact, efficient flatpack kitset.

What exactly is a flatpack cabin?

Think of it like flatpack furniture — but smarter, sturdier, and far more exciting. Instead of a shelf, you’re building an actual cabin. Each DIY kitset is precision cut, numbered, and packaged for simple assembly. No guesswork. No expert builder needed.

Our flatpacks are designed to be:

Many of our customers are exploring self-contained cabin options for multi-generational living or rental use, and while Council regulations may apply, our cabins are Building Act compliant under Schedule 1 exemptions* — often supported by relevant PS1 documentation, giving buyers added confidence throughout the planning process.
